Abstract:
In order to manifest high centering effects from a low rotation range to a high rotation range and prevent noise generation in a floating metal bearing by the vibration-limiting effects resulting therefrom, the inner surface of a floating metal bearing is machined, the machining continuously providing multiple regions of differing fluid lubrication conditions (each region smoothly connecting a narrow flow path to a wide flow path by varying the clearance between the shaft surface and the inner surface of the bearing bore) on the bearing bore surface isotropically at equal angles from the shaft center.
