Abstract:
A lower die configured so that, when a button is attached to fabric by a button attaching member, the entrainment of the fabric by a post section of the button attaching member can be prevented advantageously in terms of cost. A lower die (10) comprises: a solid cylindrical lower die body (11) having an upper surface (11') on which a button attaching member (30) is placed; and four pieces, for example, of split dies (12) arranged around the lower die body (11), the split dies (12) being pushed down relative to the lower die body (11) through a button (20) and the fabric (1) as an upper die (40) moves downward. When a post section (32) of the button attaching member (30) penetrates through the fabric (1), the radial inner portions of fabric support surfaces (14a) of the split dies (12) are present in a region corresponding to the bottom surface of the button, the region being located in the lower surface of the fabric (1) and vertically corresponding to the bottom surface (21') of the button (20), the bottom surface (21') being in contact with the upper surface of the fabric (1). After the post section (32) penetrates through the fabric (1), the fabric support surfaces (14a) of the split dies (12) are separated from the region corresponding to the bottom surface of the button.
