Abstract:
An aim of the present invention is to provide a lubricant base oil which exhibits low viscosity change rate in a broad temperature range (high viscosity index), low viscosity even at low temperature, excellent low-temperature fluidity and volatilization resistance, and reduced base oil decomposition. In order to achieve the aim, methyl pentanediol diester using a specific aliphatic monocarboxylic acid is used as a lubricant base oil.
