Abstract:
Provided is a lubricant composition that can reduce the coefficient of friction in a boundary lubrication region, suppresses seizing of a sliding member, reduces the amount of wear on the sliding member, and can expand a mixture lubrication region and a fluid lubrication region. This lubricant composition includes: an organic dispersion medium that serves as a lubrication base; surface-modified nanodiamond particles that have a silane compound bonded to a surface thereof; and zirconia. The organic dispersion medium that serves as a lubrication base is preferably one or more substances selected from the group consisting of polyol esters, poly-α-olefins, mineral oils, alkylbenzenes, and polyalkylene glycols.
