Abstract:

Provided is a lubricant which has excellent biodegradability and is able to be reduced in the environmental load. A lubricant according to the present invention contains, as a base oil, a compound represented by formula (1). (In formula (1), R1 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 12 (inclusive) carbon atoms, an alkenyl group having 2 to 12 (inclusive) carbon atoms or a halogenated alkyl group having 1 to 12 (inclusive) carbon atoms; and R2 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 8 (inclusive) carbon atoms or a specific monovalent group.)
