Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing: a lubricating oil additive composition that has excellent solubility in mineral oils and wear resistance, is suitable as a friction modifier, and includes a polymer compound; and a lubricating oil composition that contains said lubricating oil additive composition. The above problem is solved by imparting a lubricating oil additive composition containing a copolymer (X) that includes the following constituent units (a)-(c): ・constituent unit (a): a constituent unit derived from a monomer (A) having a (meth)acryloyl group and a straight chain or branched alkyl group with 6-24 carbon atoms inclusive, ・constituent unit (b): a constituent unit derived from a monomer (B) having a (meth)acryloyl group and a polar group, ・constituent unit (c): a constituent unit derived from a monomer (C) having a polymerizable functional group and a cyclic structural group, wherein the content of the constituent unit (a), based on all constituent units of the copolymer (X), is 43 mol% or more, and the mass average molecular weight (Mw) of the copolymer (X) is 5,000-90,000 inclusive.
