Provided is a lubricating oil composition for an automatic transmission that is suitable for use as an automatic transmission oil with increased performance in the prevention of wear and baking even when viscosity is reduced, particularly as a metal-belt continuously variable transmission oil. The lubricating oil composition for an automatic transmission is characterized in that the base oil of the lubricating oil comprises, with the entire mass of the lubricating oil composition as a reference, (A) 300-1000 ppm by mass in boron atom conversion of a boron-containing ashless dispersant, (B) 100-1200 ppm by mass in metal atom conversion of a metal-based cleanser with a total base number of at least 200 mg KOH/g, and (C) 0.01-5% by mass of a friction adjuster, and in that the ratio (Bo/M) of the content of constituent (A) in boron atom conversion (Bo: ppm by mass) over the content of constituent (B) in metal atom conversion (M: ppm by mass) is 0.5-4.
