A lubricating oil composition as a lubricating oil suitable for use as automatic shift and/or stepless speed change device oil, exhibiting excellent torque transmission power and shift transmission performance, which lubricating oil composition comprises a lubricant base oil containing, based on the whole amount of composition, (A) sulfonate cleaning agent amounting to 0.01 to 0.3 mass% in terms of metal quantity (MeA), (B) salicylate cleaning agent amounting to nil or 0.1 mass% or less in terms of metal quantity (MeB) and (C) borated succinimide ashless dispersant amounting to 0.001 to 0.1 mass% in terms of boron quantity (BoC) wherein the ratio of (MeB)/(MeA) is 0 or over 0 to 1.5, and wherein the ratio of (MeA)/(BoC) is in the range of 0.001 to 20.
