Abstract:
Provided is a novel lubricating oil composition which retains anti-shudder performance even in long-term use and which has the high torque transmission capacity and satisfactory gear shift characteristics that are required for wet clutches, characterized by comprising a lube base oil and, incorporated thereinto, an antiwear agent comprising (A) an ester compound represented by general formula (1) and obtained by subjecting one equivalent of a hydrocarbyl diol and one equivalent of a carboxylic acid to dehydrating condensation and (B) phosphorus.
(In general formula (1), either R1 or R2 is a C12 or higher hydrocarbyl group and the other is a hydrogen atom or a C1-30 hydrocarbyl group, and in cases when both R1 and R2 have 3 or more carbon atoms, the hydrocarbyl groups may contain a saturated amine bond (>N-), a thioether bond (-S-), or an ether bond (-O-); and R3 has 0-3 carbon atoms.)
