Description:
LUMINESCENT STRUCTURE OF A LAMP

[0001] The present invention relates to a luminescent structure of a lamp, preferentially to vehicle illumination systems, in particular to such systems containing one or more luminescent structures, for example a luminescent reflector and the like.

[0002] A vehicle with a panel comprising a built-in light-generating group of light sources arranged as a bar applied on the part of the panel, a photoluminescent structure arranged on the built-in light-generating group and configured for luminescing as reaction to a multi-light source excitation, and one or more reflective beads configured to reflect the built-in directional incident light, is known from the publication of document DE 202017101657 Ul.

[0003] The photoluminescent structure of said known solution does not provide rigidity and/or support to at least a part of the lamp represented by said mounting group for producing light. Further, the disadvantage of the known solution is the absence of the optical means for redistribution and/or blending of light inside the lamp. The absence of the primary optical means significantly reduces the efficiency of capturing light coming from a light source. Also, in the known solution, the outfalling light of the optical system for filling the photoluminescent material is not used since the photoluminescent material is fed directly by the light source.

[0004] The task of the present invention is to provide a luminescent structure in which the luminescent material is efficiently filled with outfalling light from the light conductor.

[0005] According to the present invention, the task set forth is solved with the features given in the characteristics part 1 of the patent claim. The details of the invention are disclosed in the respective sub-claims.

[0006] The invention is presented below in more detail on the basis of the non-limiting implementation example and by referring to the accompanying drawings, wherein

Fig. l is a luminescent construction in the three-dimensional representation designed as a motor vehicle lamp in the three-dimensional representation view,

Fig. 2 is a cross-section of the lamp from Fig. 1 in,

Fig. 3 is another implementation of the lamp from Fig. 2.

[0007] The luminescent structure according to the present invention is further described in more detail on the implementation example of a lamp in a motor vehicle. The said lamp comprises a housing 1 configured for receiving the light conductor 2. In the implementation example shown, the cross-section of the said housing 1 is designed in the sense of the letter C, wherein at least the inner walls of the housing 1 represent the reflective surface G of the said lamp. The said light conductor 2 can optionally be positioned in the holder 3 so that it geometrically fits in it, thereby preventing the movement of the light conductor relative to the holder 2, and the said holder 3 is arranged in the said housing 1. Further, the light conductor 2 is in the holder 3 and the holder 3 is arranged in the housing 1 either in a removable or non-removable manner. The cross-section of the said holder 3 also forms the sense of the letter C, whereby at least the inner walls of the holder 3 are reflective surfaces 3’ of the said lamp. The light conductor 2 can, for example, follow the contour of the lamp and assume the shape of the strip. The light conductor 2 comprises, on its inner side, facing the reflecting surface of the housing 1, designed in the sense of letter C, or of the holder 3, the structure of the interferential elements 4, which are generally conceived as prisms or prism-like. In the presented implementation example, the light conductor 2 preferably comprises a circular cross-section, but the said cross-section may also be an elliptical cross-section or the like.

[0008]Further, electronic assembly 5 with a light source controller is provided in housing 1. In the presented implementation example, the said electronic assembly 5 is envisaged at least at one longitudinal end of the light conductor 2. According to the invention, it is also possible that the electronic assembly 5 in the housing 1 is arranged in the housing 1 separately from the light source.

[0009]Further, the said lamp is provided with a shutter 6 which is positioned on the said reflecting surface G or 3’ facing away from the side of the housing 1 or holder 3 and covers the light conductor 2. The said shutter, which is otherwise impervious to light, may comprise at least one recess 7 for the passage of light from the light conductor 2. The said at least one recess 7 is optionally configured as a geometric figure, arbitrary text or pictogram, which forms the light current from the light conductor 2 into the desired shape. [0010] Further, the lamp is positioned on its side facing away from the shutter 6 and provided with a translucent optical element 8, for example, lens. The said optical element 8 is optionally covered with an opaque optical element 9, comprising a recess 10 which according to the invention allows the passage of light from a lamp to the surroundings. The lamp with the said translucent optical element 8 is integrated into a closed whole, which is non dismantably fixed to the housing 1 so as to form a chamber in which the remaining said components are arranged.

[0011] The said housing 1 and/or the said holder 3 of the light conductor 2 and/or the said shutter 6 are at least partly made of at least one primary luminescent material or coated with a layer of luminescent material. The implementation wherein the said housing 1 and/or the said holder 3 of the light conductor 2 and/or the said shutter 6 are completely made of at least one primary luminescent material is also possible. Further, the implementation is possible wherein at least the reflecting surface G of the housing 1 and/or the reflecting surface 3’ of the holder 3 and/or to the reflecting surface 6’ of the shutter 6 facing optical element 8 comprises at least one additional layer of luminescent material or is coated with at least one additional layer of luminescent material.

[0012] The light conductor 2 is designed in a way to lead the light from the light source in said electronic assembly 5 to the exit surface of the light conductor 2 which lies on the side of said shutter 6 (see Fig. 2). The light conductor 2 conveys a part of the light through the interference elements 4 as a light loss in the direction towards the said reflective surface G or 3’ of the housing 1 or holder 3. The luminescence material of the reflecting surface G or 3’ or the housing 1 or the holder 3 is selected and arranged in such a way that a part of the light losses is reflected in the desired direction, for example, in the direction of travel of the vehicle, and the part of the light losses is absorbed and then gradually transmitted in other wavelengths in the visible light spectrum. The intensity of the gradually emitted light is lower than the light emitted in the desired direction, so gradually emitted light is visible only at the time when the light source is switched off.

[0013] The possible implementation of lamp is also with the light conductor 2 in the housing 1 or the holder 3 arranged in such way that the side of the light conductor 2 through which the light leaves the lamp, that is in general the side which lies opposite to the area with the interferential elements 4, faces in any other direction than in the direction of travel (see Fig. 3). The desired direction of light is then directed, in the opposite direction, directly into the holder 3 of the light conductor 2. This arrangement results in a faster and more efficient filling of luminescent material, whereby the intensity of the emitted light is also higher.

[0014] The lamp according to the invention allows passive transmission of the message to the surroundings even when the vehicle is turned off without the consumption of additional energy. As already mentioned above, a recess 7 or a series of recesses 7 is designed at a predetermined location on the shutter 6, which enable(s) the visibility of the luminescent material and the display of varicoloured messages or messages under different ambient conditions. The said luminescent material and said additional luminescent materials are selected in such a way that the choice differs in color and/or in energy absorbed by the respective luminescent material. The primary luminescent material may, for example, be selected as a radioluminescent material, while the additional luminescent material is selected as a photoluminescent material, or both materials are photoluminescent, wherein the primary luminescent material transmits light of the first wavelength, for example, blue, and the additional luminescent material transmits light in the other wavelength, for example, red. The radioluminescent material is activated upon detection of radioactive radiation in the surroundings of such material (e.g., as a result of radioactive radiation from the surroundings due to a nuclear accident), where the radioluminescent material or the product constituting it does not transmit any radioactive radiation.
