Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for breaking lumps comprised in a bulk material stream and to a suitable lump breaker which has a separator unit (A) and a breaker unit (B) which have functional contact to each other via a conveyor device (6). The separator unit has a bulk material inlet opening (2) and a sieve (3) having sieve openings of a specified size and the breaker unit has a feed opening (20) and outlet openings (15) of a specified size. The conveyor unit guides lumps, which are fed to the separator unit via a first drop tube through the bulk material inlet opening by a bulk material stream and held back by the sieve, to the breaker unit via the feed opening, wherein an extension of the first drop tube can be arranged or is arranged under the sieve openings and a second drop tube (17) can be arranged or is arranged under the outlet openings. Lumps having a size which is larger than the size of the sieve openings are then fed to the breaker unit by means of the conveyor device, broken there and diverted via the second drop tube in the case of a size which equals the size of the outlet openings at maximum.
