An M-shaped energy-releasing anchor bolt comprises an anchor bolt body (1) respectively provided with a boring head (2) and a threaded fastening section (3) at two ends thereof. A nut (4) is screwed onto the threaded fastening section (3). A support plate (6) is sleeved onto one end of the anchor bolt body (1) near the threaded fastening section (3). One side of the support plate (6) abuts the nut (4). The anchor bolt body (1) consists of a first bolt body portion (11) and a second bolt body portion (12). The second bolt body portion (12) is disposed between two of the first bolt body portions (11). The second bolt body portion (12) has an elliptical and bar-shaped structure, and an outer wall thereof is axially provided with a plurality of inwardly recessed curved recesses. A joint of two adjacent curved recesses protrudes outwards to form a reinforcing rib. Under the action of static ground pressure, the anchor bolt has the same action mechanism as an ordinary anchor bolt, but the static pulling force of the anchor bolt is greater than that of the ordinary anchor bolt. The action of high stress, a rock burst, or large fault-slip deformations causes the anchor bolt to slide rapidly and disengage from a resin or concrete anchoring agent, thereby releasing kinetic energy accumulated on a surface of surrounding rock, and ensuring that rock surrounding a roadway is stable.
