Title:
METHOD FOR PRODUCING p-DICHLOROBENZENE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2004/022512
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A method for producing p-dichlorobenzene wherein use is made of benzene and/or chlorobenzene as a raw material and the raw material is subjected to nucleus chlorination with molecular chlorine to form p-dichlorobenzene, characterized in that the chlorination is effected by the use of 0.1 to 3 mmol. of aluminum chloride relative to 1 mol. of the above raw material and 0.1 to 0.9 mol. of a phenothiazine, such as phenyl 10H-phenothiazine-10-carboxylate, relative to 1 mol. of the aluminum chloride and at a chlorination degree in the range of 1.2 to 2.5. The method allows the production of p-dichlorobenzene with improved para selectivity and a reduced reaction time.
