Title:
MACHINE FOR CUTTING RAILWAY RAIL
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1993/025758
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A machine for cutting a railway rail (5) in a widthwise direction in which a catch frame (3) is screw fastened to a cutting position indicating gauge (9) fixed to a railway rail (5) so as to be clampled thereto, in which a main body block (1) is held relative to the catch frame (3) via slide shafts (2, 2), and in which a rotating whetstone (30) adapted to be rotated by means of an engine (18) provided on the main body block (1) is oscillated by operating a stroke handle (11) so that the rotating whetstone (30) is moved vertically in a smooth fashion along a cut surface, the machine being characterized in that frictional resistance during cutting is made small by varying the edge of the rotating whetstone (30) so as to prevent the generation of frictional heat, thereby making it possible not only to make the engine smaller but also to improve the degree of accuracy of the cut surface.
