Abstract:
The objective of the present invention is to provide a machine tool monitoring system which estimates a tool state with a high degree of accuracy from a signal in which the influence of external disturbances is suppressed. To this end, the monitoring system is provided with: a machine tool provided with a main shaft motor for rotating a tool which machines a workpiece, a perpendicular direction motor for moving the tool or the workpiece in the direction of the axis of rotation of the tool, and a horizontal direction motor for moving the tool or the workpiece in a direction perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the tool; and a tool degradation state estimating device which estimates a state of degradation of the tool on the basis of operation information of the main shaft motor when the machine tool is machining the workpiece using the tool; wherein the tool degradation state estimating device estimates the state of degradation of the tool on the basis of the operation information when the tool is in a no-load process or when the tool in a vertical machining process, and does not estimate the state of degradation of the tool on the basis of the operation information when the tool is in a horizontal machining process.
