Abstract:
A machine tool (10) provided with a main shaft (11) for holding a workpiece, and a tool rest (20) in which a tool (28) for machining a workpiece is disposed, the main shaft (11) and the tool rest (20) being movably disposed relative to each other in a head (12), and a sensor (32) for measuring the displacement distance of the tool rest (20) with respect to the main shaft when the main shaft (11) and the tool (28) move relative to each other being provided between the main shaft (11) and the tool rest (20), wherein the sensor (32) intermittently measures displacement distance by the movement of the tool (28) to a position different from the machining position of the workpiece.
