Abstract:
A machining head (10) for a machine tool comprises a spindle unit (20) for fixing
a tool, and supporting heads (30, 60) including a determining mechanism for determining
the rotary angle position of a spindle (21). The determining mechanism comprises
drive motors (33, 63) supported in the housings (31a, 61) of the supporting heads
(30, 60) through bearings (35, 65), and rotary joints (37, 67) arranged coaxially
with the bearings (35, 65) and the drive motors (33, 63), the bearings (35, 65)
are arranged within a range where the drive motors (33, 63) exist in the axial direction
of the supporting shafts (32, 37b, 62, 67c), and the rotary joints (37, 67) are
arranged on the radial inside of the drive motors (33, 63).
