Abstract:
This machining method moves a rotary milling tool radially, relative to a green compact material to be milled, thereby forming an opening that penetrates the material to be milled. When, of the inner wall surfaces constituting the opening, the cut surfaces to be milled by a cutting edge on the outer peripheral surface of the rotary milling tool are respectively defined as a first sidewall surface and a second sidewall surface facing the first sidewall surface, the side from which the rotary milling tool enters is defined as an outer peripheral surface of the material to be milled, a surface facing the outer peripheral surface is defined as an inner peripheral surface, a corner part where an obtuse angle is formed between the first sidewall surface or second sidewall surface and the outer peripheral surface is defined as an obtuse angle part, and a corner part where an acute angle is formed between the first sidewall surface or second sidewall surface and the inner peripheral surface is defined as an acute angle part, the machining method comprises: a pre-stage machining process in which a first rotary milling tool is used as the rotary milling tool and the first sidewall surface is formed by rotating the first rotary milling tool so that the cutting edge thereof passes from the acute angle part to the obtuse angle part of the first sidewall surface while cutting to leave a cutting allowance on the second sidewall surface; and a post-stage machining process in which a second rotary milling tool having a cutting edge formed in the direction opposite that of the first rotary milling tool is used as the rotary milling tool and the second sidewall surface is formed by cutting the cutting allowance by rotating the second rotary milling tool so that the cutting edge thereof passes from the acute angle part to the obtuse angle part of the second sidewall surface.
