Up-draft open-core gasifier (12) configured to raise the outer jacket (121 ) from a closed position (figure 7) during operation to an open position (figure 8) during maintenance periods. This can be accomplished by a plurality of jacks (120) arranged on the outer perimeter of the outer jacket.
