Abstract:
This magnesium alloy has a structure which contains 0.5-2.0% by mass of Zn, 0.3-0.8% by mass of Ca and at least 0.2% by mass of Zr, with the balance being made up of Mg and unavoidable impurities, and in which precipitates on the order of nanometers, said precipitates being formed of Mg, Ca and Zn, are dispersed on the (0001) plane of the magnesium matrix. Consequently, this magnesium alloy is capable of achieving a good balance between strength and processability in a temperature range that includes room temperature.
