Abstract:
A magnesium alloy is prepared while regulating the aluminum content and iron/manganese ratio of the alloy to be each on a proper level. This regulation is conducted by analyzing in situ a melt of the alloy for composition by taking a sample out of the melt, determining the cooling curve of the sample in solidification, calculating the aluminum content of the sample on the basis of the crystallization temperatures of phases appearing on the cooling curve and the cooling curve itself, and adding an aluminum/manganese master alloy, aluminum, or magnesium to the melt when the contents of the components are deviated from the standard and target values.
