Abstract:
A magnesium thermoelectric conversion material (11) comprising a sintered body of a magnesium compound, said magnesium thermoelectric conversion material being characterised in that, in a cross section of the sintered body, a Si-rich metal phase (15) is concentrated at the grain boundary of grains of the magnesium compound, the Si concentration of said Si-rich metal phase being higher than within the grains of the magnesium compound, the proportion of the area occupied by the Si-rich metal phase (15) is in the range of 2.5-10% inclusive, and the number density of the Si-rich metal-phase (15) having an area of 1 μm2 or more is in the range of 1,800-14,000/mm2 inclusive.
