Abstract:
A magnetic chemical absorber which comprises a composite constituted of a core substance comprising fine magnetite particles and schwertmannite deposited on this core substance and chemically bonded thereto. This magnetic chemical absorber can be produced in a hydrolytic reaction step in which a solution of a ferric salt is heated and a reactive substance is then added thereto to conduct a hydrolytic reaction and thereby precipitate schwertmannite crystals, by adding fine magnetite particles to the solution after the solution has been heated and before the crystal precipitation begins. This magnetic chemical absorber is a novel and excellent one more improved in the ability to absorb harmful ions. A method of treating a waste liquid using this magnetic chemical absorber is effective in reducing burdens from the standpoints of the environment and profitability. This magnetic chemical absorber can be regenerated.
