Abstract:
This magnetic collecting unit generates a magnetic field inside a reaction cell accommodating a suspension including magnetic particles, and causes the magnetic particles in the suspension to collect magnetically on an inner wall surface of the reaction cell. The magnetic collecting unit comprises: a magnetic field generating unit which includes two magnets and a non-magnetic body, the two magnets having a length at least equal to a distance from a liquid surface of the suspension in the reaction cell to a bottom surface of the reaction cell and simultaneously generating magnetic fields in a range from the liquid surface to the bottom surface, and the two magnets being disposed such that surfaces thereof that do not include a magnetic pole oppose one another across the non-magnetic body, and being disposed such that mutually different magnetic poles oppose the reaction cell; and a movement mechanism for moving the magnetic field generating unit between a magnetic collecting position in which upper ends of the magnets are positioned at or above the liquid surface and a retracted position in which the magnetic fields do not affect the reaction cell.
