Abstract:
This magnetic disk substrate is provided with an aluminum alloy substrate and a base plating layer formed on a surface of the aluminum alloy substrate. For a boundary region formed between the base plating layer and the aluminum alloy substrate, the maximum value (I(1)Fe (max)) of the emission intensity of Fe at a specific boundary region (D(1)I(50-84)) in which the emission intensity of Al is 50% to 84% of the average value of the emission intensity of Al within the aluminum alloy substrate is greater than the average value (I(1)Fe(ave)) of the emission intensity of Fe within the aluminum alloy substrate, as measured by glow discharge optical emission spectrometry carried out in a depth direction from a surface of the magnetic disk substrate.
