Abstract:
A magnetic field application bias film 11 having high magnetic field resistance is provided with an exchange coupling film 10 having a ferromagnetic layer 3 and an antiferromagnetic layer 4 layered upon the ferromagnetic layer 3. The antiferromagnetic layer 4 is provided with an X(Cr-Mn) layer containing Mn, Cr, and one or more elements X selected from the group consisting of Ni and the platinum group metals. The X(Cr-Mn) layer has a first region R1 which is relatively near to the ferromagnetic layer 3 and a second region R2 which is relatively far from the ferromagnetic layer 3, the content of Mn in the first region R1 being higher than the content of Mn in the second region R2.
