Abstract:
This magnetic field application device (20) is provided with a yoke part (30) that constitutes at least two closed magnetic paths (44-46) in which a closed circuit is formed by magnetically connecting both ends, in a magnetization direction, of a permanent magnet (28). At least one of the closed magnetic paths (44-46) has provided thereto a magnetic field application unit (25, 26). At least one of the closed magnetic paths (44-46) has provided thereto a coil (47, 48) which is capable of varying the strength of a magnetic field applied to a magnetic working substance (27). When no electricity is conducted to the coil (47, 48), the flow of magnetic flux of the permanent magnet (28) branches into two or more closed magnetic paths (44-46). As a result, it becomes possible to lessen the maximum value of a coil current in this magnetic field application device.
