Abstract:
A magnetic field generating device 1 comprises a core 2, a pair of superconducting coils 3, and one or a pair of vacuum heat-insulation containers 4. The core includes a substantially C-shaped or substantially U-shaped yoke 21, and a pair of split core portions 22 which are constructed separately from the yoke, are positioned on the inside of the yoke, and are disposed opposite each other with a work space therebetween. In each split core portion, each superconducting coil is wound along a circumferential direction centered around an axis parallel to a direction in which the pair of split core portions oppose each other. A split core coil assembly 5 is composed of the split core portion and the superconducting coil wound around the split core portion, and is contained in the one or a pair of vacuum heat-insulation containers. The yoke is disposed outside the one or a pair of vacuum heat-insulation containers.
