Abstract:

A magnetic fluid sealing structure (1) for high-speed rotation that seals a space (S) between a mutually rotatable shaft member (2) and a housing member (3) arranged around this shaft member (2), said magnetic fluid sealing structure being equipped with: a magnetic force generation means (4) that is affixed to the housing member (3), and that generates magnetic force; magnetic pole members (5) arranged on both sides of the magnetic force generation means (4) in the axial direction; and a magnetic fluid (7) that is magnetically retained between the magnetic pole members (5) and the shaft member (2) by the magnetic force of the magnetic force generation means (4), thereby sealing the space (S) therebetween. The shaft member (2) is formed by concentrically laminating multiple different material layers in the radial direction, and the outermost layer (23) of the shaft member (2) retaining the magnetic fluid (7) is a magnetic material.
