Title:
MAGNETIC IMPEDANCE ELEMENT AND CURRENT/MAGNETIC FIELD SENSOR
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2004/086073
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A magnetic impedance (MI) element suitably used as a current/magnetic field sensor is reduced in power consumption and cost. Although power saving has conventionally been difficult because a bias magnetic field must be applied in order for an MI element to be used as a current/magnetic field sensor, a permanent magnet (or thin-film permanent magnet) (18) is used for the application of a bias magnetic field, and a thin-film negative feedback coil is formed on a magnetic film (4) using a metal pattern (11) and wire-bonding (10). Accordingly, power saving is achieved without requiring a bias current, and costs are reduced while eliminating a mechanical winding step or the like for a negative feedback coil.
