[Problem] To provide a magnetic material and coil component in which reliability characteristics such as high-temperature load, moisture-resistance, and water absorption are improved, while magnetic permeability and resistance insulation resistance are also improved. [Solution] Disclosed is a magnetic material provided with: a plurality of metal particles comprising Fe-Si-M-based soft magnetic alloy (where M is a metal element that is more easily oxidized than Fe); and an oxide coating comprising an oxide of the soft magnetic alloy, formed on the surfaces of the metal particles. The magnetic material has bonding sections by way of the oxide coatingformed on the surfaces of adjacent metal particles,and bonding sectionsof metal particlesin portions where no oxide coating is present. At least some of the gaps formed by accumulation of the metal particles are filled with resin material.
