Abstract:
Provided are: a Z-type ferrite-based magnetic material which can be synthesized at low temperatures; and a method for producing a magnetic material, by which the Z-type ferrite-based magnetic material can be efficiently produced. A first blend, which is obtained by blending Bi in an amount of 0.1-1.0 part by weight in terms of Bi2O3 per 100 parts by weight of a main component that is represented by composition formula Ba3+XCo2+YFe24O41-δ (wherein δ represents oxygen defect(s)), is calcined, and then Si is blended into the thus-obtained calcine in an amount of 0.1-2 parts by weight in terms of SiO2 per 100 parts by weight of the main component in the calcine. The thus-obtained blend is then fired. The calcination temperature is set to 1,000-1,200˚C (preferably to 1,050-1,200˚C). Co is substituted by Cu and/or Zn in an amount of 1.0 mol or less. Zr is contained in an amount of 0.5 part by weight or less in terms of ZrO2 per 100 parts by weight of the main component.
