Abstract:
Disclosed is a magnetic material for magnetic refrigeration, which has both a magnetic entropy change above a certain level and flexibility of operating temperatures, and therefore enables the improvement in magnetic refrigeration efficiency. The magnetic material is represented by the following compositional formula: Gd100-x-y(HoxEry), wherein 0 < x+y ≤ 25 and 0 ≤ y/(x+y) ≤ 0.6. It is desirable that the magnetic material have the form of almost spherical particles, wherein the maximum particle diameter of the particles is 0.3 to 2 mm inclusive.
