Abstract:
The present invention provides: a magnetic powder obtained from a magnetic fluid comprising magnetic particles, a dispersant, and a dispersion medium by removing the dispersion medium; and a magnetic-powder composition comprising the magnetic powder and a resin material.
Since at least some of the surface of the obtained magnetic powder has been covered with the dispersant, the powder is inhibited from oxidizing in the air and is easy to handle.
The magnetic material in the magnetic fluid is present as a superparamagnetic material. When this magnetic fluid is used as a starting material, a magnetic powder is obtained in which the magnetic particles, even when appearing to be aggregates, never reaggregate when viewed on the order of nanometer and in which the superparamagnetism is maintained. Thus, the magnetic powder has excellent magnetic properties.
