A magnetic printing apparatus and a columnar magnet. The magnetic printing apparatus comprises printing devices (10, 12), a magnetic orientation device (20), and a curing device (30); the magnetic orientation device (20) comprises at least one columnar magnet (22); the columnar magnet (22) comprises a first end surface (221) and a second end surface (222) disposed oppositely, and multiple side surfaces that are separately connected to the first end surface (221) and the second end surface (222); the multiple side surfaces comprise a first side surface (223) and a second side surface (224) that are disposed oppositely and are flat surfaces, as well as a third side surface (225) and a fourth side surface (226) that are disposed oppositely and are cambered surfaces; the magnetizing direction of the columnar magnet (22) is from the first side surface (223) to the second side surface (224); a printing substrate is disposed at the outer side of the first end surface (221) or the second end surface (222), so that a specific magnetic orientation pattern (30) separately corresponding to each columnar magnet (22) is formed in a magnetic ink layer. The columnar magnet effectively simplifies a magnetic printing plate structure.
