Abstract:
Disclosed is a magnetic recording disk (1) comprising a magnetic layer (12),
a protecting layer (13) and a lubricating layer (14). A lubricant constituting
the lubricating layer (14) comprises a composition which shows the rate of change
in weight ranging from -20% to -50% at 300˚C in thermogravimetric analysis
and also shows the maximum peak at around 300˚C in differential thermal
analysis as determined in a thermal analysis under the condition where the temperature
is raised from 40˚C to 500˚C at a temperature ramping rate of 10˚C/min.
In the magnetic recording disk, the heat resistance in the lubricant can be determined
quantitatively. The magnetic recording disk can show stable performance under
high temperature conditions. Also disclosed is a method for manufacture of the
magnetic recording disk.
