Abstract:
A magnetic recording medium according to the present invention includes: a support; a recording layer; and a protective layer provided on at least one surface of the support and containing plate-shaped powder particles. The plate-shaped powder particles are stacked in the thickness direction of the protective layer with the main surfaces of the plate-shaped particles facing the surface of the support. The average aspect ratio of the plate-shaped particles is greater than or equal to 60.
