Abstract:
This magnetic recording medium includes a recording surface having a mean surface roughness SRa of 3.0 µm or less. The number of protrusions that are included in a unit area (unit area is a square shaped area of which the length of one side is 30 µm) and that have a height of 7.5 nm or higher is not less than 256. The number of protrusions that are included in a unit area of the recording surface and that have a height of 15 nm or higher is 0-104 inclusive.
