Abstract:
The crystal c-axis orientations of a magnetic layer in the vicinity of the two opposing junction wall surfaces of a magnetoresistive element are aligned in the directions substantially perpendicular to the junction wall surfaces. A magnetic sensor laminated body (1) has a field region (22) to the left and right of the opposing two junction wall surfaces (10a, 10b) of a magnetoresistive element (10), the field region applying a bias magnetic field to the element. Further, the field region includes first and second magnetic layers (22a, 22b) having magnetic grains with the crystal c-axis. The first magnetic layer is disposed in the field region and adjacent to the junction wall surfaces, and the crystal c-axis of the first magnetic layer is aligned and oriented along the ABS surface of the element within the film surface. The second magnetic layer is disposed in the field region and adjacent to the first magnetic layer, and the crystal c-axis directions of the second magnetic layer are randomly distributed within the surface.
