Title:
MAGNETIC SUSPENSION FOR A FLYWHEEL
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2002053929
Kind Code:
A9
Abstract:
The invention relates to mechanical engineering and can be used as bearing supports for a fast-rotating flywheel of inertial energy storage devices. The inventive magnetic suspension comprises moving magnets connected to the flywheel axis and fixed magnets connected to a body. Said magnets are arranged in such a way that they are alternated and separated from each other by spaces. The magnets are embodied in such a way that they are annular and axially magnetised. The lower ends of the moving magnets have an analogous polarity and the upper ends thereof have an opposite polarity with respect to adjacent ends of the fixed magnets. The flywheel axis is secured in fixing bearing supports. At least one fixed magnet is provided with extreme upper and lower poles directed towards each other, at least one fixed and two moving magnets being arranged therebetween and provided with poles opposite to each other. Said invention ensures minimum power loss during rotation of the flywheel, environmental safety and provides saving of magnetic material for the designed magnet dimensions.
