Abstract:
The present invention is a magnetic viscous damper using a magnetic viscous fluid that exhibits a change in the viscosity thereof due to magnetic field activity, and provided with: a tubular cylinder formed of a non-magnetic material and having the magnetic viscous fluid enclosed therein; a piston formed of a non-magnetic material, providing an interval allowing the passage of the magnetic viscous fluid between itself and the inner circumference of the cylinder, and being positioned slidably inside the cylinder; a piston rod connected to the piston; and a magnet for creating a magnetic field inside the cylinder, and attached to the cylinder. Therein, the magnet is provided with a pair of arc-shaped permanent magnets having an inner circumference shaped so as to follow the outer circumference of the cylinder, magnetically adhered in the circumferential direction thereof, and positioned so as to oppose one another with the center axis of the cylinder sandwiched therebetween.
