Abstract:

This magnetizing device is provided with: a magnetizing yoke (6) that has a pair of magnetizing heads (6a) that face each other with a magnetic gap interposed therebetween; an excitation coil (7) that is wound around the magnetizing yoke (6); and a magnetizing power supply that supplies a magnetizing current to the excitation coil (7) and passes a magnetic flux between the magnetizing heads (6a). The magnetizing yoke (6) is provided with magnetic shields (11, 11) that are disposed with gaps (δ1, δ2) between said shields and the magnetizing head (6a) in the direction of alignment of a plurality of rows of magnetic encoder tracks (3, 4) and shield the flow of magnetic flux, from among the flow of magnetic flux between the pair of magnetizing heads (6a, 6a), that is outside a prescribed range. The magnetic shields (11, 11) are shaped so as to become thinner toward the magnetizing head (6a).
