Abstract:
Device for detecting magneto-optical anisotropy for optical reproduction of recorded information, in accordance with the magnetized state of a magnetic carrier, for the purpose of reproducing information with higher signal-to-noise ratio. A light source (10) generates elliptically polarized light, or light is polarized by means of elliptic polarization means (90A). The elliptically polarized light irradiates an information recording carrier consisting of a magneto-optical anisotropic material (20). The elliptic coefficient of the light passing through or reflected by the magneto-optical anisotropic material varies in accordance with the magnetized state of the material. The variation of the elliptic coefficient is detected by a photo sensor (34) through an analyser (33A), thereby reproducing the information recorded on the magneto-optical anisotropic material.
