Abstract:
The present invention obtains a magnetostrictive torque sensor that is low in cost and exhibits excellent sensitivity. The torque sensor 10 is equipped with a substrate 12, magnetostriction units 26, 28, detection coils 18a, 18b, and detection circuits 48, 50. The substrate 12 is cylindrical in shape. The magnetostriction units 26, 28 are provided on the outer-circumferential surface of the substrate 12 and comprise plating films. The detection coil 18a produces a magnetic flux that passes through the magnetostriction unit 26, while the detection coil 18b produces a magnetic flux that passes through the magnetostriction unit 28. The detection circuits 48, 50 detect the electric potential between the detection coils 18a, 18b.
