Abstract:
The present invention is applicable to a main shaft device for a machine tool or the like. In this main shaft device, a double-row cylindrical roller bearing (4) and thrust-load-supporting bearings (5F, 5R) are arranged side by side in that order from the front-side end, between a front-side portion of a main shaft (1) and a housing (2). In the fitting of an outer ring (42) of the double-row cylindrical roller bearing (4) to the housing (2), a roller row section (4B) at the side of the thrust-load-supporting bearings has a greater clearance than a roller row section (4A) at the opposite side to the thrust-load-supporting bearings, and thus the outer ring (42) and the housing (2) are fitted together loosely at the roller row section (4B) at the side of the thrust-load-supporting bearings.
