The present invention is a main shaft unit (100) provided with: an assembly block (102) having a main shaft hole (102a) formed in the distal end and into which a tool is inserted, and a communication hole (102b) formed for communicating the main shaft hole (102a) and the proximal end; a main shaft main body (101) having an attachment hole (101a) formed in the distal end and accommodating the block (102), and a through-hole (101b) formed passing through the proximal end side and the communication hole (102b) of the block (102); a rod (113); a flange member (116) attached to the proximal end side of the rod (113); a bush (114) for supporting the distal end side of the rod (113) in a slidably moveable manner; a grasping device (110) for grasping the tool in a manner that allows the tool to be attached and detached along with the movement of the rod (113); a disc spring (119) placed between the bush (114) and the flange member (116); and a vibration damping device (120) provided to an attachment groove (102c) in the outer peripheral surface of the block (102).
