A printer maintenance method, applied to a printing module (100) of a printer. The printing module comprises a printing spray head unit, a spray cart, and a circuit board; when the printing module needs maintenance, the printing module is laterally translated from a work space (P1) to a maintenance space (P2); and one maintenance space may receive one printing module or one printing spray head unit. The present invention also discloses a printer maintenance device provided next to a printer rack, and comprising a maintenance module (700) used for cleaning and moisturizing the printing module and a maintenance support (500) used for supporting the maintenance module. According to the printer maintenance method and the printer maintenance device, the whole printing line total length can be reduced by 30-45%, so the whole printer can adapt to a place that is not limited by width but limited by length, thus improving the applicability of the printer, and finishing a series of maintenance for the printing module such as cleaning and moisture retaining of the printing spray head, and repairing and replacing of the spray cart and the circuit board.
