Description:
MALLEABLE BRAS AND ASSEMBLIES THEREOF

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

(1) Field of the Invention

The invention pertains generally to undergarments. More specifically, the invention relates to brassieres.

(2) Description of the Related Art

The typical brassiere, commonly referred to as a bra, is a complicated article of clothing. Most have a minimum of twenty different components including cloth sections, wires, foam padding, hooks, clips, bands, and straps.

The various rigid contact points joining separate pieces of the bra often cause discomfort in the form of friction, pinching, pulling, and squeezing against the wearer's body as well as digging into pressure points located at the shoulders, armpits, rib cage, and lymph nodes. Particularly when worn by a woman with large breasts, sweat tends to accumulate under the bra because the breasts fold over the wire and create a heat pocket on the underside. Besides causing the fabric of the bra to wear out more quickly, the excess heat and perspiration that builds in this area can cause rashes and lead to ongoing infections.

Modem bras often include significant bulk that is unneeded by an already large-breasted woman. Bras targeting women with larger breasts are generally sold at higher prices in an effort to compensate for the extra material costs required when increasing the size of the typical bra to achieve the correct band and cup sizes. At the same time, women with larger breasts have to buy replacement bras more often due to increased wear and tear. A woman with larger breasts either needs to suffer in bras that don't fit or are worn out, or frequently purchase more expensive replacement bras.

Back problems are also common in full figured women. A properly sized bra can help provide needed support, but women are left with few suitable choices. Bras that support and fit large breasted women are usually embarrassingly large, cumbersome, and expensive. Although scaled- up bras provide support, these typical bras are generally not designed to be pretty or sexy in the larger sizes. As a result, most women wearing them hide the bra underneath other clothing.

Other problems are encountered when using a typical bra design to support larger breasts. During periods of motion, shoulder straps easily slip and slide off. While sitting still, the rigid components dig in to various parts of the anatomy such as the ribcage, arm pits, stomach, upper and lower shoulder area, mid and upper back, and in between the breasts and shoulder blades. Over the years, these pressure points can permanently affect the wearer's body.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An objective of some embodiments of the invention is to provide alterative bra designs and assemblies that provide support and positioning particularly suitable for women with large breasts.

According to an exemplary embodiment of the invention there is disclosed a soft, malleable shape shifter bra that offers exceptional support and breast positioning all in one. In some embodiments, the only hard pieces used on the malleable bra are the eyes sewn on the strap facing outward. The soft malleable cup has a hook at the top that attaches to the eyes on the strap. In some embodiments, the metal pieces never touch the skin and therefore do not result in pressure points. The eyes consist of three rows of three, and the hook on the pouch attaches to any one of the eyes thereby positioning each breast with the desired support level selected by the wearer.

According to an exemplary embodiment of the invention the cup/pouch can be fixed or have any number of multi positional attachments anywhere along the strap, including the strap that surrounds each cup. The cup is fastened with as little as one attachment from the cup with any attachment such as; button/holes, snap, hook clasp or sewn and attach to any number of receivers that include but aren't limited to, buttonholes, snaps, clasps, stitched and so on. In some embodiments, the cup is gathered and crimped at the top to form a signature waterfall or cascading effect.

According to an exemplary embodiment of the invention some embodiments detach at the cup to accommodate breastfeeding.

According to an exemplary embodiment of the invention there may or may not be a hidden panel within the casing or frame of the strap to cover any fasteners. Also, some embodiments may have any combination of elastic and materials to make up the strap or cup. Also, some embodiments of the strap may be a continuous loop around the back of the neck and some embodiments may be in 2 or more pieces that attach in or around the back of the neck.

According to an exemplary embodiment of the invention there is disclosed a shape shifting bra that is a functional, backless, multi-positioning bra combined with mild to maximum support and lift all in one comfort strap with pouch. The elasticized, secured, flexible, malleable, adjustable pouch rolls the breast up off the body and attaches at various positions at the strap accommodating multiple breast size, shapes and lift requirements. According to an exemplary embodiment of the invention there is disclosed a sling bra comprising a ring of a material with elastic properties forming a loop that runs behind a user's neck, and around an outside and underneath a bottom of the user's breasts.

According to an exemplary embodiment of the invention there is disclosed a shape holder bra including a base section of material having area in a widthwise direction shorter than a lengthwise direction. A first elastic is secured to the base section at a first end of the base section in the lengthwise direction thereby forming a first pouch in the base section located at the first end. A second elastic is secured to the base section at a second end of the base section in the lengthwise direction thereby forming a second pouch in the base section located at the second end. The second end is opposite the first section in the lengthwise direction.

According to an exemplary embodiment of the invention there is disclosed a sling bra having a ring of a material with elastic properties forming a loop that runs behind a user's neck, and around an outside and underneath a bottom of the user's breasts. The material may comprise a decorative pattern. The material may be rectangular having a lengthwise direction running from a first end to a second end, and the first end and the second end are attached to one another thereby forming the ring. The material may have a length of thirty to fifty inches. The material of the sling bra may be positioned such that it provides support under the user's breasts but does not cover the user's breasts. The material of the sling bra may have a width of sufficient amount to allow the sling to be opened up to form a pair of respective pouches in which each of the user's breasts are held. The width may be ten to sixteen inches. The pair of respective pouches may be formed by twisting the material of the sling over a first of the user's breasts a number of times with respect to a second of user's breasts. An assembly may be provided for providing breast support, the assembly comprising a second bra worn in conjunction with the sling bra. A method of wearing the sling bra may include looping the sling bra under the user's breasts and around a back of the user's neck; opening up a first part of the material under a first breast; pulling the first part of the material over the first breast in order to form a first pouch around the first breast; twisting a second part of the material over a second breast one or more times thereby forming a first twist set between the user's breasts and a second twist set near a shoulder blade above the second breast; and opening up the second part of the material between the first twist set and the second twist set in order to form a second pouch around the second breast.

According to an exemplary embodiment of the invention there is disclosed a shape holder bra having a base section of material having area in a widthwise direction shorter than a lengthwise direction; a first elastic secured to the base section at a first end of the base section in the lengthwise direction thereby forming a first pouch in the base section located at the first end; and a second elastic secured to the base section at a second end of the base section in the lengthwise direction thereby forming a second pouch in the base section located at the second end; wherein the second end is opposite the first section in the lengthwise direction. The shape holder bra may further includes a first sleeve sewn into the base section in which the first elastic is secured at the first end; and a second sleeve sewn into the base section in which the second elastic is secured at the second end. The base section may be oval shaped. The base section may have a lengthwise distance of thirty-eight to forty-six inches. The base section may have a widthwise distance of ten to twenty inches. The first elastic may be secured to the first end in a first U-shape with an opening of the first U-shape away from the first end toward a center of the base section; and the second elastic may be secured to the second end in a second U-shape with an opening of the second U-shape away from the second end toward the center of the base section. The base section may be formed of material with elastic properties. The base section may have a decorative pattern. An assembly for providing breast support may include a second bra worn in conjunction with the shape holder bra. A method of wearing the shape holder bra may include looping a center portion of the base section around a user's neck; supporting the user's first breast within the first pouch; and supporting the user's second breast within the second pouch.

According to an exemplary embodiment of the invention there is disclosed a shape shifter bra including a strap with elastic properties. The strap is looped at a first end and secured to itself thereby forming a first pouch holder, and the strap is looped at a second end and secured to itself thereby forming a second pouch holder. DETAILED DESCRIPTION

FIG. 1 shows a front view of a sling bra 100 being worn as a breast positioner according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 2 shows a side view of the sling bra 100 of FIG. 2, and FIG. 3 shows a back view of the sling bra 100 of FIG. 1.

As shown in FIGs. 1 to 3, the sling bra 100 is formed by a continuous ring of decorative and elastic material such as an elasticized sleeve. Examples of materials with elastic properties that may utilized to form the sling bra 100 in different embodiments include polyester, spandex, nylon, strap elastic, and stretch satin. In some embodiments, the sling bra 100 is formed by a rectangular section of material with a length of approximately 30 to 50 inches and a width of 10 to 16 inches. The lengthwise direction of the material originally runs from a first end to a second end, and the two ends are sewn or otherwise attached together during manufacture to form the sling 100 being a circular loop having diameter of about 14 inches to 20 inches.

The sling bra 100 is worn looped around the back of the user's neck 102, down the chest on the outside of each breast 104, and underneath the breasts 104. The length and width of the elasticized material in this embodiment provides support and lift under the breasts 104 and may be particularly beneficial for women with C+ cup size and up. Different width and diameter loops may be utilized in other embodiments to accommodate other cup sizes.

The elasticized material in sling 100 acts to position and support the breasts 104 and also absorbs perspiration that forms on the underside of the breasts. Cleavage may be enhanced by reducing the diameter of the sling bra 100. As the ring length is shortened, the sling bra 100 diameter is reduced and the support is increased in firmness and lift. The increased lift pulls the breasts 104 in the upwards direction thereby enhancing cleavage.

The elasticized material may also be decorative in nature and designed to show while being worn. The sling bra 100 may be utilized as a bra liner and worn in conjunction with either a traditional bra or the other malleable bra embodiments disclosed in more detail below. The decorative material forming sling bra 100 is meant to be seen in some embodiments, but whether the material is exposed is of course the choice of the wearer.

As illustrated in FIGs. 1 to 3, the sling 100 may be worn cup-less such that the sling 100 does not cover over the front of the breasts 104. However, if desired, the excess width of the material forming the sling 100 can be utilized to cover and support each breast 104 in other configurations and modes of usage.

FIG. 4 shows a side view of the sling bra 100 with the elastic material around each breast 104 opened and twisted in order to form separate pouches 400, 402 supporting and covering each breast 104. FIG. 5 shows a front view of the configuration of the sling bra 100 in FIG. 4, and FIG. 6 shows a close-up of the center twist 500 illustrated in FIG. 5.

As described above, the sling bra 100 in some embodiments is formed by rectangular material having a width of approximately 10 to 16 inches. This width range allows for enough material that can be opened up to form a pouch 400, 402 for each breast 104 while still allowing some material to be present on the underside of the breasts 104 for positioning support and absorbing perspiration. To wear the sling bra 100 in this manner, the user first loops the sling 100 under the breasts 104 and around the back of the neck 102 as illustrated in FIGs. 1-3. The user then opens up the material of the sling bra 100 under one of the breasts 104 and pulls it over the breast 104 in order to form a first pouch 400 around the breast 104 with desired coverage and support. The user then twists the sling bra 100 material over the other breast 104 one or more times thereby forming a first twist set 500 between the breasts 104 and a second twist set 502 near the shoulder blades above the second breast. The user then opens up the material of the sling bra 100 between these two twist sets 500, 502 in order to form a second pouch 402 for the other breast 104. The end result is the sling bra 100 material is twisted forming two twist sets 500, 502 and opened over both breasts 104 to create a pouch 400, 402 providing desired support for each breast 104.

Although twisting the material of the sling bra 100 also slightly reduces the effective diameter of the loop formed by sling bra 100, the number of twists tends to be inversely proportional to cleavage in this mode of usage. In particular, the one or more twists in the centre twist set 500 between the breast pouches 400, 402 tend to push the breasts 104 apart. In this manner, the fewer twists, the more the cleavage as the breasts are closer together; and the more twists, the less the cleavage as the breasts are spaced wider apart.

As the material of the sling bra 100 in some embodiments is made of flexible, elastic material such as elasticized cloth that is easily pulled aside, breast feeding is fully supported. In the mode shown in FIGs. 1-3, there is no material over the breasts 104 and therefore the sling bra 100 does not impede breast feeding in any way. While worn in the mode of usage shown in FIGs. 4-6, the material of the sling bra 100 is opened to form a pouch 400, 402 covering each breast; however, the material is elastic and soft and can be easily stretched and pulled aside thereby exposing the breast for feeding. The material may be pulled off a breast 104 in an upward direction so that the breast 104 is exposed at under the sling 100, or may be pulled downward so that the breast 104 is exposed over the top of the sling 100. In this way, the sling bra 100 allows a mother who is breast feeding to accommodate different feeding positions and different outer garments, which may alternatively provide better child-feeding access from either above or below the breasts 104.

The sling bra 100 not only provides positioning and/or support of the breasts 104, but can also reduce wear and tear on another more expensive bra worn in conjunction with the sling bra 100 in other embodiments. For example, the sling bra 100 may be worn against the skin (in either of the modes of usage shown above) under another, more expensive bra. A bra assembly is thus formed consisting of the sling bra 100 providing positioning and support on the underside of the breasts 104 and another bra providing support and covering the breasts 104. By absorbing sweat under the breasts 104 before it reaches the other bra, the sling bra 100 helps prevent perspiration from soiling the other bra. Stains and odors are kept off the more expensive bra and the sling bra 100 can be safely machined washed without worry of additional wear and tear on the more expensive bra.

A plurality of decorative designs and colors for the sling bra 100 allows for coordination with different outfits and looks. When utilized in the modes of operation shown in FIGs. 1-6, the sling bra 100 is also backless and can be worn with garments where the user's back is intended to be exposed. Other exemplary advantages and usages include acting as a decorative accessory such as a decorative bra liner, being simple to manufacture and therefore very affordable to purchase for end users, and enhancing cleanliness and comfort of the user. The sling bra 100 can also be sewn into or worn with other articles of clothing, lingerie, dresses, tops, lounge-wear, etc.

A variation of the sling bra 100 design in other embodiments includes having a reduced width of less than 10 inches. Such embodiments are particularly suitable when the sling bra 100 is only going to be worn for providing support under the breasts 104 such as in the mode of operation of FIGs. 1-3 rather than covering the breasts 104 such as in the mode of operation of FIGs. 4-6. A thin width prevents opening up the material of the sling 100 to form pouches 400, 402, but a sling bra 100 with thinner width is lighter for the user and cheaper to manufacture.

FIG. 7 shows a partem for a malleable shape holder bra 700 according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. The shape holder bra 700 in this embodiment is formed by a base section 702 of material being oval shaped in this embodiment and approximately 38 inches to 46 inches long, and approximately 10 inches to 20 inches wide. The base section 702 is preferably a single piece of soft, elasticized and decorative material such polyester, spandex, nylon, strap elastic, or stretch satin. Elastic bands 704, 706, each approximately ¼ inch to 2.5 inches wide and approximately 8 inches to 16 inches long, are sewn into a respective sleeve 712, 714 around the perimeter of the base section 702 at each end thereby forming first and second pouches 708, 710 located at each end of the base section 702. During manufacture, sleeves 712, 714 are sewn in the perimeter and elastics 704, 706 are inserted within the sleeves 712, 714 and secured to form a U-shape around each end of the base section 702. The material of the base section 702 is gathered and pleated at the sides and bottom of the U-shape and attached to the elastic 705 such as by sewing in place in order to create a basket-like pouch 708, 710 at each that can be utilized to secure and support a woman's breasts. The perimeter of the base section 702 may also be made shorter in length than a center area of the base section 702 in order to help shape the pouches by causing the base section 702 to naturally form a pouch shape at each end.

FIG. 8 is a front view of a shape holder bra 700 of the design of FIG. 7 while being worn according to an exemplary embodiment of the invention. FIG. 9 is a side view of the shape holder bra 700 while being worn, and FIG. 10 is a rear view of the shape holder bra 700 while being worn.

As shown in FIGs. 8-10, the shape holder bra 700 is worn with the center of the base section 702 looped around the back of the wearer's neck 102. The first and second pouches 708, 710 hang down the front of the user's chest and respectively cover and provide support under each breast. The elastic 708, 710 is secured under and around the sides of each breast and held taught by the shorter length of material around each end pouch 710, 708 creating a firm basket for each breast.

Fullness, support and lift is maintained by a slightly longer length in the center area of the base section 702 in comparison to the perimeter of the base section 702 due to the shorter length and/or the elastics 704, 706. The egg shape of the base section 702 after the elastics 704, 706 are installed provides torque within the pouches 708, 710 at the sides of each breast as well as under the breasts. The slightly longer material in the center area of the base section 702 provides expansion and flexibility of multiple breast sizes and shapes. Different models of the shape shifter bra 700 may be manufactured and selected by users according to desired attributes. The shorter the length of the base section 702, the more lift from the sides, underneath and center within the pouches 708, 710. A user may select from a plurality of shape shifter bras 700 with a differing feature of each model being a different length of the base section 702.

The shape holder bra 700 is elasticized to fit multiple breast sizes with an expandable and contractible pouch 708, 710 on each end. However, in some embodiments, the pouch sizes are one-size-fits-all and are not meant to be user- adjustable. Beneficially, the shape holder bra 700 in such embodiments is simple and cost effective to manufacture, provides great breast support and sweat absorption, and does not include any hard or rigid components that might dig into a user's skin or cause pressure points.

The shape holder bra 700 can also be worn in conjunction with other bras. For instance, the shape holder bra 700 can be worn with another bra including the sling bra 100 introduced earlier in the specification to form a bra assembly. Like the sling bra 100, when the shape holder bra 700 is worn against the skin and then another, more expensive bra is worn overtop the shape holder bra, the material of the shape holder bra 700 will act to absorb sweat and protect the more expensive bra from soiling.

A plurality of decorative designs, colours, and styles can used for the material of the shape holder bra 700 in order to coordinate and match with various outfits and looks. As further exemplary benefits, the shape holder bra 700 worn in the configuration shown in FIGs. 8-10 is backless, supports clothing with a low or non-existent neckline, and is fully compatible with breast feeding.

Concerning breast feeding, the elastic 704, 706 can be stretched in order to easily remove a breast from its respective pouch 708, 710 from either the breast's left, right, or bottom sides. In other embodiments, the shape holder bra 700 is modified for breast feeding support by the addition of a discreet opening in the center area of each pouch 708, 710. The opening may be in the form of a cloth flap that can be selectively opened and closed by the user when feeding is desired.

Similar to the sling bra 100, the shape holder bra 700 can also be sewn into other garment items such as clothing, lingerie, sports wear, bridal, swim wear, maternity wear, tops, dresses, etc. As the shape holder bra 700 fully covers the wearer's breasts, the shape holder bra 700 can additionally be worn on its own or under/over other clothing. In some exemplary embodiments, the shape holder bra 700 is a comfortable, malleable, wearable, washable, clean, and simple bra that can be made from multiple textiles and does have any band sizes or cup sizes for the user to worry about.

FIG. 11 shows a pattern for a shape shifter bra 1100 according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. The shape shifter bra 1100 in this embodiment includes an elasticized strap 1102 inside of a decorative sleeve 1104 of a suitable fabric such as polyester, spandex, nylon, strap elastic, or stretch satin. The elastic strap 1102 and decorative sleeve 1104 are looped on each end to form respective pouch holders 1106, 1108 in an O-shape on either end in which the wearer's breast is supported. The elastic strap 1102 in combination with the sleeve 1104 form a semi seal around the breast encasing and providing support and position to the breast.

In this embodiment, the elastic 1102 is in the form of a continuous elastic tension strap of ¼ inch to 2.5 inches wide by 30 inches to 42 inches long inside of a decorative sleeve 1104 of any soft and flexible material suitable to be adjacent the wearer's skin. In other embodiments, the strap 1102 may have a length of 30 inches to 54 inches long. The elastic 1102 forms around the pouch which creates an elasticized opening for the breast to sit inside. While worn, the elastic 1102 forms a seal around the inside and underneath of the breast. During positioning, the elastic 1102 slightly expands and then contracts around the base of the breast to form the seal around the breast. The elasticized strap 1102, 1104 holds the breasts in proper position. The elasticized tension strap 1102 may also contain a wider comfort strap of any material at the neck and shoulders. Wider sleeves with possible foam padding can also be added to elastic strap 1102 either in the back and/or front at any location about the length of the strap 1102 for further comfort.

A pouch cover 1110, 1112 is attached to the pouch holder 1106, 1108 on each side and is made of an elastic material such as polyester, spandex, nylon, strap elastic, or stretch satin. Each pouch cover 1110, 1112 has a hook 1116, 1118 that attaches to one of a corresponding sets of eyes 1120, 1122 provided on the outside of the sleeve 1104 above each pouch holder 1106, 1108. By attaching the hook 1116, 1118 on a particular side to one of the eyes 1120, 1122 on the same side, the pouch cover 1110, 1112 rolls the breast up off the user's body and provides support and positioning. The pouch cover 1110, 1112 is gathered at the top area where the hook 1116, 1118 is attached to the inside the pouch cover 1110, 1112 to add some extra fabric in this area and allow it to stretch to different eye 1120, 1122 levels. Pouch cover 1110, 1112 is also attached at the bottom to about 3/4 of the way around the loop or O-shape such that the bottom and left and right sides in this embodiment are attached. The attached pouch cover 1110, 1112 forms the basket-shaped pouch inside which the breast is held against the pouch holder 1106, 1108. The pouch covers 1110, 1112 provide lift, support and positioning of each breast individually.

The angle of connection A where the combination of the elastic strap 1102 and decorative sleeve 1104 attaches back to itself at the top of the pouch holder 1106, 1108 is symmetric on both sides in a preferred embodiment so that the forces pulling up on each breast are centered.

In the embodiment shown in FIG. 11 , there are nine different eyes 1120, 1122 located on each side. Since each side can be individually set to any of the nine positions or even left open, there are a possible ten different breast support positions of the wearer's choice per side. In total one-hundred different possible support settings for the shape shifter bra 1100 may be selected by the user in this embodiment as each side may be set independently. In usage, the user adjusts the support and position of each breast by securing the hook 1116, 1118 into one of the nine eyes 1120, 1122 (or leaving the hook 1116, 1118 detached) depending on the desired breast position and level of support required. Position can be adjusted both to the left / right and up / down depending on which eye 1120, 1122 is selected for hook attachment.

FIG. 12 is a front view of the shape shifter bra 1100 of the design of FIG. 11 being worn while the hooks 1116, 1118 on each side are not yet fastened according to an exemplary embodiment. The elastic 1102 and the accompanying sleeve 1104 appear to an external viewer as a strap that fits around the neck 102 and shoulder of the user, and continues around the outside, underneath and inside of the breasts until it forms an O-shape by looping back onto itself on both ends. The respective O-shape loops of the sleeve 1104 on each side form the pouch holders 1106, 1108. Each looped O-shape sits on either end of the elastic and is independent of the other. Each looped O- shape forming the pouch holders 1106, 1108 has a semi fixed expandable, contractible adjustable shape and works in conjunction with the pouch cover 1110, 1112 like a cup, sock, sack, hammock, basket or pouch. Each cup, sack, basket or pouch is malleable and can expand and contract, and can also be positioned separately and independently from the other side allowing for multiple breast sizes and lift positions.

The shape shifter bra 1100 in this embodiment is a soft, malleable, backless bra that offers breast support and positioning all in one. The only hard pieces used in this configuration are the eyes 1120, 1122 sewn on the sleeve 1104 surface facing outward away from the user's body and the hooks 1116, 1118 sewn on the tops of the soft, malleable pouch covers 1110, 1112. Although the hooks 1116, 1118 and eyes 1120, 1122 in this embodiment are metal pieces, during usage these metal pieces never touch the wearer's skin and do not dig into or cause any pressure points. As illustrated, the sets of eyes 1120, 1122 on each side in this embodiment consist of three rows of three, and the hook 1116, 1118 on the pouch cover 1110,1112 attaches to any one of the eyes 1120, 1122 selected by the user to position each breast.

FIG. 13 is a close-up view of the user's right-hand side pouch holder 1106 and pouch cover 1110 of FIG. 12, and FIG. 14 is a close-up view of the hook 1116 on the user's right-hand side pouch cover 1110 of FIG. 12. By selecting the different height level of eye 1120 to which the hook 1116 is connected, the wearer can choose from medium to maximum support and lift. Since each side of the shape shifter bra 1110 has an independent set of eyes 1120, 1222, the wearer can also accommodate different breast sizes on each side that many large breasted women experience.

FIG. 15 is a close-up view of the set of eyes 1120 of FIG. 12 on the user's right-hand. As shown, the eyes 1120 include a plurality of nine different eyes with a top row including three eyes 1120a, 1120b, 1120c, a middle row including another three eyes 1120d, 1120e, 1120f, and a bottom row including another three eyes 1120g, 1120h, 1120L In other embodiments, different numbers of eyes 1120 can be included besides three rows or three. For instance, a single eye 1120 may be provided in another embodiment. Likewise, greater or fewer than nine eyes 1120 may be included and organized in other layouts such as four rows of three eyes or five rows of one eye, etc. In the exemplary embodiment illustrated with three rows or three eyes 1120, the user may increase lift by connecting to a higher row such as the top row and may position the breast toward a desired side by connecting to the left/middle/right eye position in the selected row. Three rows of three allow for breast placement up and down and side to side independent of the other breast. However, other numbers and positions of one or more eyes 1120 per side may also be implemented in other embodiments.

FIG. 16 is a close-up view of the hook 1116 attached to a particular eye 1120 on the user's right- hand side according to an exemplary embodiment. As shown, the user has selected to connect the hook 1116 to the top middle eye 1120b in order to provide maximum lift with a centered position. FIG. 17 is a front-view of the shape shifter bra 1100 having the pouch covers 1110, 1112 attached to eyes 1120, 1122 on both sides according to an exemplary embodiment, and FIG. 18 is a side- view of the shape shifter bra 1100 of FIG. 12 having the pouch covers 1110, 1112 attached on both sides according to an exemplary embodiment. As illustrated, the shape shifter bra 1100 lifts the wearer's breasts completely off the body helping to keep moisture from accumulating on the underside of the breasts. Further, any moisture that may form can be absorbed by the material of the sleeve 1104 and/or pouch covers 1110, 1112.

FIG. 19 is a front view of a shape shifter bra 1900 while being worn according to an exemplary embodiment. The shape shifter bra 1900 is similar to as the shape shifter bra 1100 illustrated above, except that in this version the decorative sleeve 1104 is formed by two separate sleeves 1104a, 1104b that meet in an L-shape at the user's back. FIG. 20 is a back-view of the shape shifter bra 1900 while being worn showing the L-shape at the user back according to an exemplary embodiment, and FIG. 21 is a top view of the shape shifter bra 1900 of FIG. 19 according to an exemplary embodiment. As illustrated, the declarative sleeves 1104a, 1104b also cover the hooks 1116, 1118 and eyes 1120, 1122 such that the hooks and eyes are no longer visible from the front during normal usage. However, the sleeps 1104a, 1104b are loose enough at the front positions that the user can easily access the hooks 1116, 1118 and eyes 1120, 1122 for adjusting the support levels of the pouch covers 1110, 1112. (e.g., see these areas being accessed in FIG. 13 and FIG. 14, for example.)

FIG. 22 is a close-up view of an attached pouch cover 1110 of the shape shifter bra 1900 according to an exemplary embodiment. A pouch cover ring 2200 is visible below the sleeve 1104a and a portion of the pouch cover 1110 is passed through the ring 2200 in order to form a loop for securing the hook 1116.

FIG. 23 and FIG. 24 illustrates front and back close-up views of the hook 1116 attached to a loop 2300 of the pouch cover material that has been passed through the ring 2200 according to an exemplary embodiment. The pouch cover ring 2200 may be formed by a soft material such as cloth or may be a rigid material such as plastic or metal in other embodiments. A lengthwise section of the pouch cover material 1110 is passed through the ring 2200 in order to form a loop, and the loop is secured through a ring portion 2302 on the hook 1116. A similar hook design may also be utilized on the other side of the shape shifter bra 1900.

In some embodiments, the diameter of the pouch cover ring 2200 is less than the diameter of the hook ring 2302 so that, once installed during the manufacturing process, the hook 1116 may not be removed from the shape shifter bra 1119 by the user. In other embodiments, the pouch cover ring 2200 may be formed by a length of material with a button or other attachment means in order to remove the pouch cover ring 2200 in order to remove/replace the hook 1116 such for cleaning or repair purposes.

In some embodiments, the shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 has no bands or cup sizes eliminating the need for bra fittings. The shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 is cost effective and easy for manufacturing thereby allowing a much lower price point. Users may be saved from spending hundreds of dollars on traditional, ill fitting bras. The shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 is made of malleable materials that accommodate multiple shapes and sizes much like a t-shirt. The shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 moves with the body in contrast to typical bras that stay fixed and work against the body's natural movement.

Different models of the shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 may be manufactured in a plurality of sizes, but due to the malleable and stretching properties of the elastic 1102 and pouch covers 1100, 1112, a single size may comfortably suit a larger range of breast sizes than a typical bra. Thus, the overall number of different models is reduced, again simplifying the manufacture and sales processes. For instance, the shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 may be made in sizes small, medium, large, XL, XXL, and XXXL, rather than hundreds of potential sizes as is done with conventional bras.

As with the sling bra 100 and shape holder bra 700 described above, the shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 can be made in a plurality of decorative designs, colours, and styles in order to coordinate and match with various outfits and looks. The shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 worn in the configuration shown in FIGs. 12-18 is also backless, supports clothing with a low or non-existent neckline, and is fully compatible with breast feeding.

For breast feeding, the elastic strap 1102 within sleeve 1104 can be stretched in order to easily remove a breast from its respective pouch holder 1106, 1108 from either the breast's left, right, or bottom sides. In other embodiments, the shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 is modified for breast feeding support by the addition of a discreet opening in the center area of each pouch cover 1110, 1112. The opening may be in the form of a cloth flap that can be selectively opened and closed by the user when feeding is desired. Additionally, access to the breast can also be facilitated by the user disconnecting the hook 1116, 1118 from the eyes 1120, 1112.

The shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 can also be worn in conjunction with other bras including the sling bra 100 and the shape holder bra 700 introduced earlier in this specification. In this way, the shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 can be worn with another bra to form a bra assembly. Like the sling bra 100 and shape holder bra 700, when the shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 is worn against the skin and then another, more expensive bra is worn overtop the shape shifter bra 1100, 1900, the material of the shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 will act to absorb sweat and protect the more expensive bra from soiling. Stains and odors are kept off the more expensive bras and the shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 can be safely machined washed without worry of additional wear and tear on the more expensive bra. The shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 can also be sewn into or worn with other articles of clothing, lingerie, dresses, tops, lounge-wear, etc.

The shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 in some embodiments is a simple, sanitary, comfortable, easy wear, easy wash, decorative, and fashionable bra. It provides firm support with much less compression of the body. It is backless and allows independent positioning of each breast. The design can provide firm, secure, adjustable, maximum or minimum, and wireless support for C cup and bigger breast sizes. Other sizes may also be accommodated by adjusting the above dimensions accordingly.

The pouches formed by the pouch cover 1110, 1112 and pouch holders 1106, 1108 are secured together on the bottom and up the walls of the sleeve 1104 within the pouch holder 1106, 1108 so that they act as one piece in this embodiment. The amount of material in the pouch cover 1110, 1112 is selected during manufacture to be sufficient to accommodate the target shape and size of each breast. Due to the elastic property of the material, the pouch covers 1110, 1112 can stretch and accommodate multiple breast sizes and shapes in general. The covers 1110, 1112 are also strong enough to roll the breast upwards and provide lift when the hook 1116, 1118 is connected to one of the eyes 1120, 1122. The covers 1110, 1112 are sized such that they feel both secure and comfortable to the user wearing the shape shifter bra 1100, 1900. The covers 1110, 1112 and skin- facing side of the sleeve 1104 are free of wires, hard objects, and foam wide bands and straps so that there no additional pressure points caused or discomfort thereof. The shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 is sleek and fashionable and may be worn such that it is visible from the outside.

Exemplary advantages of some embodiments of the shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 include preventing compression on the rib cage, lungs, lymph nodes or shoulder area. The shape sifter bra 1100, 1900 can work with the natural sag of the breast in order to provide support and lift to the other breast. The shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 is backless and complements clothing with a plunging to no neck line. Breasts are covered at all times even in low cut to plunging neck lines. Each pouch cover 1110, 1112 and elastic strap 1102 fits multiple sizes and shapes. The sleeve 1104 covering the elastic strap 1102 is ornamental and is made to show if the wearer chooses. The sleeve 1104 and pouch cover 1110, 1112 can be made of any desired materials for comfort and/or style. The pouch holder 1106, 1108 O-shape can be made standard, slightly bigger, or smaller to accommodate different breast sizes. The shape shifter bra 1100 may also be reversible, washable, affordable, comfortable, breathable, and have a smooth finished fit to eliminate the need for foam cups which trap heat. Maximum or minimum lift and support is chosen by the wearer. The shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 may also increase cleanliness and reduce infection due to rashes.

In other embodiments, the shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 is sewn into or otherwise integrated with clothing, lingerie, workout gear, bathing suits, lounge-wear, dresses, tops etc. A benefit to sewing the shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 into other garments is to distribute the weight load across the whole shoulder/back and neck area. The shape shifter bra 1100, 1900 can also be modified to target nursing bras by converting the pouch cover 1110 to have an opening or openable flap in the center for nursing. In some embodiments, the shape shifter bra 1110, 1900 is converted into a nursing bra that operates the same way with an exception being the pouch covers 1110, 1112 open wide enough to accommodate nursing in the center area without exposing the whole breast.

For additional comfort, the sleeve(s) 1104, 1104a, 1104b around the back of the neck area can be made wider to better distribute weight and reduce pressure. In another variation, a wider comfort strap at the neck can be added between the user's skin and the sleeve(s) 1104, 1104a, 1104b.

Although the invention has been described in connection with preferred embodiments, it should be understood that various modifications, additions and alterations may be made to the invention by one skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. For example, the sling bra 100 can have a user- adjustable length (circle diameter of the loop formed by the sling bra 100) to work with different situations depending on how much cleavage is desired, or a plurality of different sizes can be sold separately or in a package for different situations. Although hooks and eyes are utilized as connectors in the above illustrations of the shape shifter bra 1100, other types of connectors may also be utilized to allow the user to selectively attach and detach the pouch covers 1110, 1112 to the area of the strap 1104 where the eyes 1120, 1122 are located in FIG. 11. Examples of other attachment means that can be used as connectors in other embodiments include snaps, buttons, ties, and Velcro. Likewise, although only one hook 1116, 1118 is provided on the pouch covers 1110, 1112 in FIG. 11, in other embodiments, multiple hooks 1116, 1118 may be provided on each side as another user-selectable support option. Depending on the hook 1116, 1118 selected to attach to a particular eye 1120, 1122, different support levels and breast positions may be achieved. In yet another example modification, the hooks 1116, 1118 may be located on the strap 1104 and the eyes 1120, 1122 may be located on the cover 1110, 1112. In yet another modification, although the shape shifter bra 1110, 1900 is illustrated in FIG. 11 and FIG. 19 as having the pouch covers 1110, 1112 secured around the bottom three quarters of the pouch holder loops 1106, 1108, other amounts may be utilized in other embodiments. For instance, only the bottom part of the pouch holder opposite the hook 1116, 1118 may be secured to the pouch holder loops 1106, 1108, or multiple points of attachment at the bottom, right and left sides of the pouch holder loops 1106, 1108 may be used to secure the pouch covers 1110, 1112 in other embodiments. In some embodiments, the pouch covers 1110, 1112 may be fixed and/or attached all the way around the pouch holder loops 1106, 1108, strap 1102, and/or sleeve 1104. In yet another modification, the above-described elastics and sleeves can be integrated together with a decorative elastic strap or may be formed by a single strap material that has sufficient elasticity. The cup, pouch cover, strap and sleeves can be made from any fabric including stiffer ones such as cotton, satins and lace, etc. The bras disclosed herein may also be reversible.

All combinations and permutations of the above described features and embodiments may be utilized in conjunction with the invention.
