Abstract:
A malleable thin magnesium sheet, characterized in that it is produced through subjecting an extruded Mg alloy sheet comprising 1 to 3.8 wt % of Al, 1 to 6 wt % of Zn, 0.1 to 2 wt % of Mn and the balanced amount of Mg and inevitable impurities to a rolling, and it has a thickness after the rolling of 0.2 to 2 mm, has T1 and T2 of 200 to 350 MPa and has at least one of a (Y1/T1) value and a (Y2/T2) value of 0.7 or less, wherein Y1 and T1 represent respectively the yield strength and the tensile strength, respectively, in the direction parallel with the rolling direction and Y2 and T2 represent respectively the yield strength and the tensile strength, respectively, in the direction perpendicular to the rolling direction, and has an average crystal grain diameter of 3 to 100 μm; and a method for producing the malleable thin magnesium sheet. The magnesium sheet is excellent in workability, especially in press workability.
