Abstract:
Mandelic acid derivatives represented by general formula (I), wherein R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a hydroxy group, X represents a halogen atom or OR2 (wherein R2 represents a hydrogen atom, benzyl, benzhydryl, t-butyl, tetrahydropyranyl or silyl), and A represents an optionally protected amino acid residue, or salts thereof. These compounds are useful as intermediates for synthesizing cephalosporin derivatives, etc.
